    For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.
    I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.
    I was a stranger and you invited me in.
    I was sick and you looked after me.
    I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

WELCOME TO

THE MINISTRY CENTER

The Ministry Center is a Christian based ministry sponsored by Tulsa area churches and managed by South Tulsa Baptist Church.

The Ministry Center began as the Tulsa Baptist Ministry Center during the 1980s. Following a devastating fire in 1998, the center was rebuilt under the volunteer direction of Allan Davis. When the rebuilding was completed in May of 2000, the center was reopened as The Allan Davis Ministry Center. In 2007 the ministry was renamed again to its current name, The Ministry Center.

In 2016, over 12,600 people were helped through this ministry that provides:

    •    Quality clothing to each member of a family;
    •    Staple food items;
    •    Vouchers for prescription medication;
    •    Christian guidance;
    •    Bi-weekly medical clinic;
    •    Shower facilities for homeless clients.

Our desire is to make human services available to people who are struggling to be contributing members of society. We strive to meet emergency needs of those struggling without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, or sex. Our intent is not only to help meet basic human needs, but more importantly for others to discover the abundant life through Jesus Christ.

An appointment is required for clients. Please call (918) 585-5310 to make an appointment. Note: Social Security cards are required at each appointment. No one is assisted until they have completed an intake interview with a volunteer staff member. The intake interview assists in evaluating each client’s unique circumstances.

How Can You Help?

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me” (Mathew 25:35-36).

The Ministry Center is staffed by volunteers and there is always a need for more workers to help.

We need people to:

  • Sort and fold clothes;
  • Work with clients in the clothing room;
  • Prepare food sacks for clients;
  • Conduct intake interviews in order to determine a family's need;
  • Special projects such as building maintenance and sorting clothes.

We need churches to:

  • Regularly collect food for the Ministry Center;
  • Consider making this ministry a part of your church budget;
  • Become part of our ministry team.

Current needs (may be new or gently used):

  • Men's and women's plus size clothing;
  • Children's clothing in all sizes;
  • Underwear and socks in all sizes;
  • Coats in all sizes;
  • Blankets;
  • Sheets, towels.

Help needed

We are blessed with lots of donations at this time of year, but need help in sorting through the abundance. Regular volunteers are needed Monday through Thursday in the clothing sorting area. If you can put in a few hours each week, your help would be greatly appreciated. Pick hours convenient for you between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. For more information, email info@ministry-center.org.

Service opportunities

Children’s clothing and children’s coats are desperately needed! Our shelves are bare. As you are cleaning out your children’s closets, consider giving your donation to the Ministry Center. Donations are accepted at the Center during regular service hours (Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.). Donations may also be taken to South Tulsa Baptist Church Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The Ministry Center is the perfect place to adopt for a missions project. For example, preschoolers can collect mittens and gloves, or decorate bags that can be used to distribute groceries. School age children may want to have a drive to bring in outgrown coats and boots for donation. Other groups may choose to collect small toiletry items such as shampoo, soap, tooth brushes and tooth paste. All donations are tax deductible and appreciated.

Changes to the Food Stamp program have caused an increase in demand for services at The Ministry Center. Please consider hosting a food drive in your neighborhood, at school, at work, or at church.

Please prayerfully consider these opportunities for service. If you have any questions, contact Alice Bones at alice@ministry-center.org
